So this dude is like Sora_Sky's OC. You can mess with him I guess. Just don't claim for yourself. That would be a pricky move.
I'll help make the world a better place! I'm not entirely sure how I'll get around to doing that by slaying monsters, but I have a few plans in mind~

Appearance[]

At 5'4" and 135 lbs, Aeron is a fairly short individual with a slightly husky, but well-toned frame. His proneness to losing focus makes his large, brown eyes zone out from time to time. And his short, black hair makes him look rather plain; the freckles peppered lightly across his dark skin (especially his cheeks) do not help in the slightest.. He also has a small, but deep scar on the bridge of his nose, which he hides with an adhesive bandage.

Aeron's standard huntting attire is made up by a light blue cropped top worn over a tight black wifebeater, baggy grey jean shorts, torn-up black sleeves that are long enough to hide half of his fingers under, and black sneakers with highlights shaped like a pair of blue feathered wings. Aeron accessorizes with a black buckled belt on his, verticaly striped black and white long socks, and a grey bandana loosely wrapped around his neck. He also keeps a small pouch hanging

Aeron also has an older outfit, one which he was fond of before the Battle of Beacon. Though he doesn't use it regularly anymore, Aeron still tries it out every so often for nostalgia's sake. The outfit consisted of a black sleeveless shirt, an ill-fitting set of black jeans, pointed boots and black armor plating for his arms and legs with blue highlights. He also wore a short blue robe which was wrapped with two black scarves at the neck and waist area.

Personality[]

Aeron is rather strange and spacey. He zones out on a regular basis, carries around bags of cookies everywhere, and loses focus very easily. He often finds himself invested by the simplest of things, whether it be mundane or particularly amazing; there is also a good chance that these things will somehow remind him of food, giving him the urge to munch on something. His love of food is so great, that he is often seen munching on something even when it might seem inappropriate in that moment, such as during classes, or at a funeral. If one were to make a written log of his train of thought, they would be greeted by short, brief phrases packed together with non sequiturs, random desires to chew objects, unprovoked outbursts and word-salad haikus.

Aeron is not stupid however, and is fairly observant when in the right mood. Once you get past his frail grasp on logic, you will find a mellow and awfully hardworking individual who goes out of his way to be friendly and cheerful, especially to his friends and loved ones, whom he can be a tad bit possessive of. Though Aeron is slow to anger, it is unwise to test his good-nature. Due to his odd state-of-mind and outlandish thought process, his emotions do not always translate well into his speech and movements, and as such he is prone to bottling up feelings, unless questioned about such. Because of this, an angry tirade that's been building up for months on end could easily be mistaken for a sudden stroke of rage, or a hyperactive joy-fest can seemingly be identified as a sudden celebration. Thankfully, people used to his speech and thought process may pick up on any hinted emotions.

History[]

Backstory[]

Aeron Roch was born to a Gwyn and Chloe Roch, a fairly distinguished history professor employed at Signal Academy, and a big-game trapper from the country side, respectively, on a warm summer's eve in Vale. He had two loving parents, a decent home and a plethora of archaic, scholarly tomes. What he didn't have however, was a good grasp on reality, and spent half of his time reading his father's old textbooks, a quarter of it exploring the outside world in search of 'knowledge and artifacts', and the last quarter conversing with no one in particular about the latest subject he was excited about. When he turned five, his parents eventually became worried of his eccentric behavior and took him to a child psychologist to take an IQ test. To say he had failed would be an understatement, for he received a sixty on that test. Which was extremely sketchy, to say the least. Mostly because it was a horrible mistake, and the lad didn't have below normal IQ; the clinic eventually found out that the machine that checked Aeron's answers had malfunctioned, and upon further retests it was revealed that the lad's IQ was actually quite impressive, evening out at an extremely high grade of 140, which put the lad on par with his own father. In spite of his tremendous wealth of knowledge, his emotional maturity was not on par with his intellectual faculties, and continued to act very much like a regular tot. Seeing this as a tremendous opportunity, the lad's father began giving Aeron lectures straight out of his classroom, much to the lad's delight.

Aeron's odd behavior and easygoing attitude was fairly well-received by any friends he had, but unfortunately for him most children seemed to put-off by his inability to engage in a 'proper' conversation. So the lad spent most of his childhood watching the sky, feeling the wind tug gently at his hair, and burying his nose into another course-book. Until one day, shit hit the figurative fan. It was Aeron's tenth birthday, and as a form of celebration, his parents sent him and a family friend on a trip to Vacuo, where they would rendezvous with the pair upon landing, as Aeron's father was invited to give a public lecture in the area. This would've gone just peachy, except the airship taking them there crashed into the an uninhabited forest, killing many people on board; Aeron was not one of those people, his companion, however, was. Now lost, tired and grieving at the loss of one of his only friends, the lad wandered the secluded forest landscape for a while with the remaining survivors, lugging around his remaining books. He contemplated giving up, resigning himself to his fate, and letting the next pack of Grimm take him away... He then decided that was dumb, and disgraceful to his lost friend, and went 'These books seem helpful, I can prolly survive. Maybe. Why does everything smell like copper?'.

So he did just that. Refusing to become a statistic, and preferring to be a news paper article, Aeron contributed greatly to the group, mainly by heeding the advice of the only three books: "Wilderness Survival: Essential Skills To Keep You From Dying Horribly", "Whip-hunting For The Cheap and Unproductive", and "How To Survive A Grimm Attack,". Since he crash landed, he devoted a bulk of his time reading these books, gaining and absorbing every tip, trick or insight that he could and shared them with the other survivors. He had managed to help find a steady supply of water, build a very flimsy shelter, and crafted a short five foot bullwhip (which he had used to scare and fend off larger animals). He even applied his shallow knowledge on Grimm to successfully hide from their hunts, though one Beowolf caught up to him the first time around, and managed to leave the boy with a permanent scar on his nose and with scratches in his corneas. He also devised a light training regimen, as to hone his skill with the whip, despite it being fairly detrimental to his conditioning and opening up chances of starvation and dehydration. The group of survivors were rescued twenty-three days later, almost lasting an entire month on their own; when Aeron was rescued, he was arguably starved, definitely dehydrated and partially blind in one eye, but his will to survive pulled him through.

Upon returning home, Aeron's status as a survivor of the crash was mainly ignored by the media, as an even younger survivor had been rescued, a six year old girl. Now fueled by the naive desire to somehow make the world a better place, if only to honor his fallen friend, Aeron ignored his newly found eye problems and decided to continue and intensify his training regimen, developing his own erratic, but deeply flawed, fighting style, which mixed together: whip cracking, street fighting and big-game hunting. Unfortunately, Aeron's aura remained relatively untrained due to a lack of emphasis on this aspect during his training. With the help of more books from his father's library, he began crafting a more combat-oriented of his bullwhip, dubbed Bubsy Pigiron. After nearly two years of toil, Aeron had finally finished the whip, which had somehow morphed into a twenty-foot long, projectile-spewing monster during development. In spite of all these events, life continued as normal for the lad, though his family now coddled him at every opportunity. Which was okay, as the loss of one companion drove Aeron to be much more protective of his loved ones.

As a teenager Aeron continued to further his studies and training, not once forgetting his experience in the forest. He eventually decided to become a huntsman, his misplaced desire to make the world a safer place, and do his long lost friend proud, guided this decision. Expecting the worst, he told his parents of the dangerous path he wished to undertake, but instead of confused worry or bitter disappointment, he had received great praise and loving support. Aeron eventually enrolled in Signal Academy, receiving high marks all around, particularly in his various academic subjects, though his knowledge of computers could have used work. While here, he also began dabbling into some basic medical training, expanded his research on fundamental sciences, and furthered his knowledge of the Grimm. After years of hard work, Aeron finally completed his basic training at Signal, graduating without any significant awards, due to being deemed responsible for an accident which involved two Beowolves, another crashed airship, and several disemboweled ostriches. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured this time around. Now equipped with the right skills to pursue his reckless goal, he applied at the finest institution for budding huntsmen he could think of: Beacon.

Post-Battle of Beacon[]

After the assault on Beacon, Aeron moved back to his family's country home on the outskirts of Vale. Despite his grievances, his upbeat nature and passion for life are still intact. Though the lad still tries to keep in touch with his surviving schoolmates, most of his efforts have been focused on training and studying. When he isn't out hunting Grimm to hone his combat skills, he continues to immerse himself in his father's massive library, learning everything he can to someday, somehow help make the world a better place.

Weapon[]

In battle, Aeron wields a hand-woven bullwhip, with several pieces of machinery secured inside of the thong and handle, dubbed: Bubsy. Bubsy is an twenty-foot long bullwhip, the handle is lined with black pigskin leather and the cracker is draped with iron-like metal properties. There are also three different trigger mechanisms on the whip's handle. The first one has been painted red, the second has also been painted but with a white tint instead, while the third trigger has a neon blue wing airbrushed on both sides. All of these triggers are connected to a canister hidden inside the whip that stores two types of highly volatile Dust: Fire and Ice.

The first and second triggers activate a small, hose-like funnel, that allows The Dust to move through a small-pipe connected through the canister, and into a smaller compartment filled with empty high-velocity grenade cartridges. The first trigger fills said casings with Fire Dust, while the second does the same process with Ice Dust. When third trigger is pulled, it fires an already loaded shell from the bottom of the thong. Bubsy Pigiron can hold up to four grenades at a time, before having to reload.

Semblance and Abilities[]

Semblance[]

Aeron's semblance, Guardian Gale, is protective in nature, calling down a barrier of energy, one resembling huge gusts of wind, to surround a three meter radius. However, the shield's power is tied to Aeron's physical well-being, and weakens as the lad takes damage in a fight. Should Aeron be sufficiently battered, he may be unable to even

Fighting Style[]

Keeping a decent amount of space between himself and his adversaries, Aeron uses a bizarre mix of whip cracking, street fighting and big-game hunting to decent effect. This skillset is further aided by his analytical approach to fighting, as his observational skills allow him to size up any given foe, given enough time. This unorthodox fighting style has confused many unprepared opponents. And his erratic tactics, ever-changing combat stance and liberal use of both of Bubsy's dust reserves are a sight to behold.

Other Abilities[]

Blessed with a brilliant mind, a love of learning and an outstanding wealth of diligence, Aeron is able to learn various disjointed spheres of experience that he's decided to dedicate his time to. These include wilderness survival, solid detective chops, a budding interest in science, basic medical training, and vast understanding of Grimm

Strengths[]

  • Aeron's high IQ, combined with his eagerness to learn, make him a fast learner and keen observer. Because of this, Aeron is exceptionally perceptive, and can easily form strategies to deal with enemies and obstacles.
  • His unpredictable stance during combat allows him free range of motion most of the time, as he bobs in and out of danger with his grenade thrower-slash-whip-slash'-rifle butt.
  • Outside of combat, Aeron's many (and often times pointless) interests have served him well in dealing with his miscellaneous activies.

Weaknesses[]

  • Aeron is partially blind in one eye, leading to vision problems. This ails Aeron greatly, given his preference for staying at medium-to-long range during fights.
  • Aeron's fighting style and weapon make him ill-suited to close quarters combat. If the lad is unable to create more distance between himself and his opponent's, he's at a massive disadvantage.
  • Due to his gluttonous love of food, Aeron may find himself unable to focus when sufficiently hungry. Likewise, he can be distracted by delicious meals when outside of a tense situation.
  • Aeron's devortion to gaining knowledge on many different subjects has also kept him from mastering any of these endeavors. His lack of a specialization prevents him from exercising the full potential that he may have for any given topic. And as such, his efforts often come across as amateurish to most people.

Trivia[]

  • Taking the last letter out of his first name (Aeron) will form the word: Aero. It is his primary color and is a variant of Air Force Blue. Aeron also refers to a river in Wales.
  • His namesakes are Aeron, a masculine god of slaughter and battle, and Aesop Rock, an underground rapper known for his playful sense of lyricism. Other prominent influences on Aeron's character include Michael J. Caboose from Red vs Blue, and Roark "Rocky" Rickaby from Lackadaisy.
  • Aeron was also loosely inspired by Manfred von Richthofen (also known as the Red Baron), a famed German fighter pilot in the First World War, when he was first created. Though the influence has since waned significantly and replaced with other sources, to fit with the changes made to his character.
  • Aeron was first created on July 7, 2014.
