I Surrender - Digital Daggers

(Amethyst Faire is the property of MidnightAmethyst, aka Me. Please don't steal!) "May the best fighter win...for I will not hold back." --Amethyst to Tuckyr Gainsboro

Appearance:[]

Amethyst has violet dyed hair save for two naturally black streaks, slate blue eyes and a fair, but pale complexion. His almost shoulder-length hair is usually flipped up and out. Thin with somewhat defined muscles, he relies on speed and acrobatic grace to maneuver in a fight.

His outfit consists of a black short-sleeved vest with a violet shirt underneath, black pants with boots that resemble ninja tabi at the feet, a violet belt with cool gray metal pieces, and a black choker with a silver pendant. On his right arm is an almost shoulder length fingerless arm glove, and on his left is a fingerless black glove that comes to his elbow and a black forearm guard with violet accenting. His emblem is on the left side of his chest and violet.

Personality:[]

On the outside, Amethyst is an amicable and gentle young man, able to strike up a conversation with many people--Faunus, human or otherwise--without having to use much effort. Well-mannered and happy, Amethyst is usually seen with a smile on his face, ready to listen to someone talk about their problems or do an acrobatic trick to cheer someone up. Many consider him to be someone who has everything under control, with no problems. However, on the inside is a different matter.

Internally, Amethyst is heavily guarded, never truly letting out how he feels about a situation, for fear of seeming vulnerable. Having to carry a large weight and burden after a serious tragedy, Amethyst himself has become a stronger willed individual, though he sacrifices true relationships and opportunities to show his passionate side with others by putting up walls. He is no stranger to using any means necessary to get what he needed from weak-willed individuals--no matter how much he dislikes this method--though he has found a preference for males through repeated use when he was younger. He takes his schooling and Hunting responsibilities quite seriously, though he would hesitate in taking a leadership position on a team.

An acrobat at heart, Amethyst wears clothes that fit close to his body and do not restrict his movement with subtle, yet interesting patterns. He is quite inexperienced with dating and romance, and is learning to make cracks in the walls that he built up so many years ago. In battle, he is more of a supporting role, quickly striking to provide an opening for others. However, he can hold his own, actively giving the appearance of the "weakest member" of a team to gain an advantage. Somewhat of a pragmatist, he always tries to see the sensible solutions to problems.

History:[]

Amethyst grew up with the love of Cerise and Lupine Faire--former Hunters--on a small island off the coast of Vacuo. A very bright and happy child, he had a natural skill at gymnastics, nurtured by Lupine, who often worked with a traveling circus. Cerise, however, nurtured a love of nature and flowers, especially the iris flower. Amethyst would find iris petals and collect them, feeling a sort of bond with the purple fragments. Surrounded by people who loved him, and having a little brother already named Auric on the way, life just couldn't possibly get better, so fate had it get steadily and increasingly worse.

Lupine, while travelling with the circus, had sensed the arrival of a pack of Beowolves intent on stopping their merry celebration. Instinct kicking in, he went into battle, managing to hold them off while his friends escaped. However, years of parenting and a lax lifestyle sealed his death, the circus travelling back to the island to share the news and turn in the towel after five years. The happy family that Amethyst had known was now broken, with his mother becoming more and more withdrawn. The birth of Auric brought happiness back to Amethyst and Cerise, though the woman felt something coming on the horizon. Her suspicions were proved correct five years later, as a local insurrection caused by a rebellious group ravaged Amethyst's home and the island. With Amethyst at age 10 and Auric at age 5, Cerise fought to bring her children to safety, placing them on a ship that would take them to Vacuo along with their belongings, Amethyst's petal box, and a package that was not to be opened until Amethyst turned 15. Cerise, like Lupine, had let her skill in battle become weak...and soon joined her husband in death.

Amethyst, having lost both of his parents and contact with the supportive group of people that he had grown up with, became emotionally reclusive, knowing that getting too close to a person could mean emotional turmoil and more pain. Raising Auric to stand up for himself, and "appropriating" food and a golden scarf for him as a gift, Amethyst developed a mature and caring nature to his little brother. To others, he became distant and cold, never staying in the same spot for too long. This ended when he came into his early teenage years, and the two brothers ended up at a circus. As if Lady Luck had her eye on him, Amethyst found that it was run by the family friends that he knew what seemed to be an eternity ago. They trained the raven haired young man as an acrobat, developed a weapon fighting style with a short sword, and taught him how to be multi-faceted, like his gemstone he was named after. On his 15th birthday, Amethyst unwrapped the mysterious package, finding a simple wakizashi blade with it's name and a saying inscribed on the blade: "Vitrified Iris: Unobstructed Beauty in Death." One of the older circus members, nicknamed Orange for his wild hair color, bequeathed another gift: a locket with Cerise and Lupine's photos on each side. During the next two years, the two brothers each developed a form of simple martial arts and bladework; Amethyst focused on acrobatic grace and Auric focused on acrobatic brutality. Amethyst also discovered his skill at quick attacks. Orange, who had supervised the brothers' training, served as a surrogate father for both of the boys, Amethyst becoming emotionally attached for the first time in a long time. Amethyst decided to take his bond with the flower that seemed to be always by his side to a new level during that first year, dyeing his hair violet while leaving two streaks to remember what he had lost...and what he had gained.

After two years of training and evolution, Amethyst--now 17--looks into Beacon Academy at the behest of Orange, the man who had been there almost every step of the way. Now leaving the circus and his brother for a glimpse of a new future as a Huntsman, he starts to follow in his parents footsteps at Beacon, being as soft as a flower on the outside and as hard as his namesake on the inside.

Weapon:[]

Amethyst's weapon is the Vitrified Iris, a simple wakizashi blade with a black handle--a button on the side--and sheath. The sheath and handle have violet flowers decorated on them along with some indentations on the blade, and seems to be a later evolution of an older weapon. It's previous history lies with Cerise Faire, as the Iris was her weapon before it was Amethyst's. It was recently found that Amethyst could add Dust to the Iris, strengthening it's effects with mixed Dust to create a sort of "wind-slash" effect, though he prefers to use it in it's normal form. This effect extends the range of his slashes, but only for a short time. The button on the side of the handle pours the mixed dust--colored violet--into the indented designs on his blade, activating the Dust's effects.

In battle, Amethyst mainly uses the Iris by itself for offense and defense.

Amethyst carries the Iris on the back of his belt while in his regular clothing, handle and all.

Abilities:[]

Amethyst is a highly capable gymnast and aerialist, having been trained for almost all of his life. In a battle or encounter, he is a fast mover, using his small frame and light footsteps to ambush and confuse the enemy as well as gain some space. His true strength lies within his speed--both mental and physical--as he has no Semblance to help in his efforts. His Aura is aubergine, and is of medium strength; his main uses for Aura are defense and healing.

Weaknesses:[]

Amethyst's main weakness in battle--when on the offensive--his low defense and almost non-existent armor; relying on speed, he can be a bit reckless in battle, leading to injuries. Also, if he doesn't have breathing room to calculate his next few moves--being against a "rush-down" sort of character--he can leave himself open for various attacks, especially during an outburst of emotion. Going out of the battle spectrum, one of Amethyst's crippling points is his emotional insecurity, especially when it comes to people. Putting on a facade is a defense mechanism, though those who want to get to know him might see his inner self...but not until he feels comfortable opening up.

Relationships:[]

Cerise and Lupine Faire: He has never stopped missing his parents, though he knows that there is nothing that he can do to bring them back. He just...relives the good memories, to ease the pain.

Auric Faire: Amethyst's little brother and a bolt of lightning. He would do anything to make sure that he is safe, and he is not afraid to fight--or die--for him.

Orange: Amethyst's surrogate father and mentor, he realizes that he is declining in health, though he is glad that fate let the two become closer. Coached Amethyst on making the "cracks in the wall."

Trivia:[]

Amethyst's Main Theme, "I Surrender," reveals the constant struggle that he has brewing on the inside...with him eventually losing.

Amethyst originally started as a ninja type character, but faced a redesign after one listen of "Tomorrow Is Mine," along with his brother Auric to have more of a modern background.

Amethyst's symbol consists of a tear-shaped amethyst gemstone surrounded by iris flowers.

His design changed heavily from a mainly black wearing ninja-type character who would use seduction to get what he wanted to a violet-loving acrobat with issues and emotional insecurity.

(9/8/2014) Amethyst's re-design has mixed the ninja and acrobat, making him more combat-ready.

He is mainly based off of the iris flower.
