Canubis Marbus, more commonly known as Anubis, is a member of a small group called Chess Fiends and is one of the Black Knights of the group.

History[]
Canubis Marbus was the son of Panini and Labra Marbus. He grew up in a small house in Mistral. In his youth, he kept seeing his parents arguing about their problems while he's just minding his own business. Because he was too young, he didn't understand why his parents treated him in a terrible way, even though all he wanted was to have them play with him.
After eight years of harsh treatment, Canubis started losing faith in his parents, completely scared of them, and unable to think and do things graciously. When he became sixteen, his parents enrolled him at Sanctum Academy to learn how to fight and study to become smart like them. Canubis did want to accepted their request, but not accepting will only anger them and get him in trouble. Thus, he accepted it, despite his disinterest. A few days since he arrived at the Academy, Canubis realized that the school was filled with more harsh people and less kind ones, bullying the small and weak students, which reminded him of his harsh parents, discouraging him from making any friends and having a great time.
With nothing left to do, Canubis decided to focus on studying and learning how to fight to make his parents proud, hoping that they'll welcome him with kindness and respect when he returns home. After graduating at Haven Academy and taking on lots of missions to earn money, he then went back home, expecting a warm welcome and a hug from his parents, only to be yelled at and to be told to start packing his things and live on his own. Despite the reasons they told him to move out, Canubis finally lost patience, mercilessly slaughtering his parents, and eventually left the house after setting it on fire along with their corpses.
A month later, Late approached Canubis in his new house and made him a proposal that will give them both benefits. However, denying it would result in Late calling the authorities for the murder of his parents, which was something Canubis took care of, believing that no one will ever figure out who killed his parents or why the house was on fire.
Speechless, Canubis simply accepts Late's offer while acting dejected, but internally, he's curious and questions why Late wanted him to be a part of his group. The proposal that he was given a moment ago was something he would want, but after thinking about it, he eventually realized that it was a lie. This made Canubis mentally panic inside after realizing that he's dealing with a genius person. Despite that, he happily accepted and planned on using their new relationship to get closer to Late and eventually kill him so he can go back to his new peaceful life as a huntsman with no one getting in his way.
