Appearance[]
Arterio stands at 6' 5" and weighs 175 lbs, which is slim for his age of 35. He is a Springbok faunas and has antlers which resemble that of an antelope. He has medium Crimson hair which parts around his antlers, with the middle curling up as it reaches his forehead. His hair is also longer in the back, coming down to the base of his neck. Like his body, Arterio's face is slim, with features to match except for the base of his nose which is a bit more rounded. He is somewhat well built, areas of muscle showing on his pale body.
Due to his affiliation and involvement with the White Fang, Arterio is typical to wearing a modified White Fang uniform as well as a Grimm Mask. His mask resembles that of a plague doctor's, but has an additional plate that covers his mouth to his chin rather than one solid mask. Red markings can be found on the mask, with two lines across the bill and a cross over the eyes, which are circle with slits across them. A hood attached to the torso comes over and attaches to the mask to completely cover his face except for his springbok horns. His Uniform resembles that of a typical White Fang Uniform, with some added pieces. On the torso is a piece of Body armor which goes opposite of the fastens on the White Fang coat, with the three fastens going up at an angle. The lower left of the armor comes up at an angle then goes back down around the back, leaving an area open for the medical bag that attaches to the armor. The shirt below the armor also is modified to have a collar that would come up and cover Arterio's neck completely, with spare cloth to attach to his mask. The Tails of the coat are shorter and don't come to a point but instead come to a flat side a little above knee level. The pants tuck in below knee level with Arterio's specially designed boots called (insert name). On his arm is the long gray shirt along with below elbow length gloves and guards that go almost completely around until his inner wrist where he keeps special ammo for Blood Loss. In all, Arterio's body is completely covered when in full uniform.
Personality[]
Arterio's personality is all well known by his comrades. He's level headed and calm on the battlefield, moving swiftly to injured comrades and assisting them as he can. He is also cunning and sadistic, displaying these when torture is necessary or when a battle requires a trick or two. Arterio is also caring, showing remorse for those lost and caring for faunas who cannot take care of themselves. Being a long time member of the White Fang, he is very stead fast in his beliefs of Pro-Faunas rights and cannot stand the abuse or hatred humans display against them.
When he is off hours from mercenary work, Arterio plays the role of a Lead medic for the White Fang in operations. Because of his time and contribution, he has the rank of Lieutenant but tends to stick to his Lead Medic status unless a mission needs be.
Weapons and Abilities[]
Battle Style:
Arterio acts as a mobile Medic, using MAPS and Blood Loss to climb with ease and make his way around any terrain on a battlefield to people who need medical attention. When facing enemies, he is ruthless up close and will use the pickaxe form of Blood Loss to penetrate through through aura as much as possible and deal damage. In syringe launcher form, Arterio's will use the remote detonation of the syringes to deal damage. Timing the shots is the an area he excels, with even near misses allowing for slash damage. When he isn't forced into combat, he will prioritize taking care of his teammates and keeping them healed.
Weapon:
Blood Loss: Blood Loss is Arterio's weapon of choice. Blood Loss is Syringe launcher/Pickaxe which he uses for both climbing and combat. In it's pickaxe form, Blood Loss is for melee attacks in CQC. The pickaxe has it's advantages with it's pointed side used for instant kill blows to the head and piercing through aura. The flat side works with splitting apart and pulling off pieces. The pickaxe form also helps him climb, giving him an edge in mobility and getting high up. The Syringe Launcher form of the weapon is a one barrel gun which uses a quick piston mechanism to fire syringes at ranges of a semiautomatic rifle. The clip size for the rifle is 12 shots, with the ammo being remotely activated Dust syringes which Arterio can activate from a trigger on Blood Loss. The syringes will trigger the dust inside them whenever activated, causing each respective dust to exploud with the corresponding dust. The exceptions to this is gravity dust, which has no real effect unless detonated in flight to cause more impact.
Movement Enhancing Parkour Stilts (MAPS): MAPS are a pair of utility style armored boots with two special features. When transformed, a jumping apparatus will form which turn the light-armor boots into armored jumping stilts. The stilts are made of a light weight and strong metal which bend and flex well. The jumping potential is also increased with gravity dust, which allows Arterio jump up to three times his height (or 18 feet) with MAPS. The secondary feature of the boots is in the the base of the Stilt apparatus. The base has short sharp claws that grab onto dig into the surface. This allows Arterio to grip to the surface and walk/run/climb walls easier. MAPS allow for both out of combat use such as climb/ run across walls easier and holding onto walls, and in combat use such as enhanced kicks and more damage from the claws.
Semblance:
Doctor's Touch: Arterio's semblance; When Arterio uses his semblance, he can extend his healing capabilities of his aura outward and make them more powerful, allowing him to heal the wounds and injuries of others. The more serious the injury, the more aura is needed to heal the injury.
Equipment:
Arterio will always have a medical kit on his person, which has the material necessary to remove bullets, treat small to large gashes and cuts, and treat most minor poisons. He also carries a pair of electric dust powered defibrillators in a compartment on the back of his torso armor.
Backstory[]
Arterio Salvatore was born to proud faunas family. The family had always been for faunas rights; always at every protest, every rally, and at the frontlines with picket signs. Arterio was no different, whenever he old enough to attend the rallies, he was there with the other Salvatore's supporting the cause. When he wasn't helping his parents, he was attending school and building his education. It wasn't till his later years of schooling that he found an interest in biology and medical science.
Unlike most students who wanted to attend combat school, Arterio wanted to attend school to become a medical professional and use his knowledge and skills to help others. From the time he was 12, he attended school in areas of biology, medicine, and aural healing. He excelled in his classes, and in the consecutive 10 years he attended school learned healing through aura, found his semblance which allowed him to do so, and learned what he could of the medical field.
Through all his 10 years of schooling, Arterio never gave up on the White Fang and continued to support them. He even used his skills to help those who were injured during protest and when the police became violent against them.
It was around age 25 that Arterio ideals would be tested. This was the year that the White Fang would come under new leadership and would take a bold new approach to Faunas rights: Violence. The Springbok faunas found his skills even more useful as he became a medic for the White Fang, healing those who fought the cause. It became more troublesome to keep up with school amongst the chaos of war so to speak. He held his all, continuing to strive towards both being a well respected Doctor and Faunas activist. However something changed.
It would be over a year after the fighting began that an attack on would rob Arterio of the proud people he followed: his family. It was a raid on a Schnee Dust Company Mine, and unbenounced to the White Fang the SDC had ordered Atlas Troops to protect the mine on leaked info of the attack. The Springbok faunas went about his job, working surgery and healing his comrades as much as he could. His supplies were beginning to run low, and as he exited his tent to retrieve more, two soldiers carried the bodies of two familiar people: His father and sister, faunas of his kind. He ran to their corpses, asking what had happened. The soldiers carrying them said they were killed by Atlas soldiers, who were interrogating the girl for information. Arterio fell to his knees in despair and anger, crying out as tears fell apon his bloodied gloves.
It was then that something inside the Springbok faunas snapped, driving him to anger and rage. He stood up, motioning for their bodies inside the tent as he accompanied them. Arterio grabbed several syrnges of powerful medicine and placed them in a bag with needles and scalpels. He rushed out and over to the tunnel entrance, grabbing the nearest sharp object from the group. The blood from his gloves stained the pickaxe handle as he charged inside. With each troop he met, a swing of the tool was met, Arterio's anger pouring out with each swing. He eventually made it to a large room with the help of other members, finding the leader of the soldiers. The twisted face of anger turned to something of calm rage came across the faunas's face as he threw the pickaxe at the soldier and impaling him. Arterio grabbed the soldier, taking the tool and pinning him to a table, then taking out his scalpel and cutting through his clothes. It went from clothes to skin, cutting below into his stomach, and even the stomach. He tore away and jammed his hand inside the leader, pulling with all his might as he ripped his heart out. Not even letting out a laugh or weap, he used the scalpel and cut what was left of the arteries and veins attached and set the heart on the table. Turning, he left the room and went back to his tent. The soldiers were in aw of the doctor, but followed.
After the incident, Arterio went from being the normal doctor he was to a field medic and taking lessons in combat. Eventually he found others outside the White Fang to teach him, and for 6 years trained with mercenaries and White Fang members. He went on to create a reputation by his special White Fang mask and his own weapons and equipment to become the mobile and savage Medic he is. Now at 35, he works as a head medic and sometimes a unit leader for the White Fang, as well as working with 3 others in a Mercenary team known for their skills and capabilities. He still harbors an anger most fowl for those who hate the faunas, as well as a hatred for those in the Atlas military for their aid against the side he calls his own, and puts that to work for him in his job, whether it be for equal Faunas rights or to kill a target.
Trivia[]
- Arterio's first name resembles Artery, which correlates to red because arteries carry blood away from the heart.
- Arterio's last name, Salvatore, is Italian for "Savior"
- The mask arterio wears resembles that of the Plague Doctor mask worn back in times of the Black Plague. Arterio's mask does has a White Fang style to it in order to yield to the ideals of the White Fang.
- Blood Loss, as the name of Arterio's main weapon, directly references a Hemorrhage which is when the body expels or discharges blood too quick to stop.
