Aurora is an original character based in the RWBY-verse and created by WeissSchnee.  She is based on Sleeping Beauty.

Appearance

Aurora is very conscious of her physical appearance and as such, works out often to keep in shape.  She is tall with a slim build.  She has long, pale blonde curled hair with pink streaks.  Her eyes are a pale shade of watermeleon pink and her skin is lightly tanned.  Aurora has an above average bust size for girls her age.  She also tends to wear heavy eye make up to accentuate her large, unusually coloured eyes.

Aurora likes to wear very "girly clothing", and is fond of pastels and pale shades rather than bright colours.  Her clothing is often adorned with lace, bows or hearts.  Her combat gear is very indicative of this.  She wears:

- A combat dress/ skirt that is a pale yellow, white lace trim and pink bows.

- A pink bow choker

- Pale yellow heeled boots with pink detailing and white bows

Personality

Aurora is very charasmatic with exceptional social skills.  Whilst she has gotten very good as the girly, bubbly model, Aurora is actually very intelligent and in some cases, devious.  She is very insightful when it comes to other people and loves to learn what makes them tick.  However, Aurora also has a tendency to be manipulative in order to get what she wants, and sometimes she has a tendency to disregard other people's feelings in order to get what she wants or to accomplish her goals. Though physical appearance is very important to Aurora, it isn't her top priority.  

History

Aurora was born into a very poor family and grew up as an only child.  Because her parents couldn't afford to send her to school, Aurora was home schooled by both her parents.  They taught her basic skills such as reading, writing and math.  However, with no real skills outside of the basics, Aurora's future looked similarly bleak to that of her parents.

Fate, however, had other plans.  On Aurora's 8th birthday, her mother's sister (who was a veteran Huntress), came to visit.  Knowing her niece's love of the fancy dresses in the windows of some of the shops in downtown Vale, and how hard the girl tried to hide that from her parents so they didn't feel bad at not being able to afford to get her one, she took her to lunch.  After they'd eaten, Aurora's aunt took her to one of the stores and told her to pick any dress she wanted.  Overwhelmed by choice, Aurora eventually chose a yellow and pink tartan dress with a ruffled skirt.  She was trying it on for her aunt when a woman approached them both.

This woman turned out to be the one who had designed the dress, and she asked Aurora if she would be interested in doing some modeling for her children's line.  Aurora was enamoured with the thought of wearing more beautiful clothes and said she would love to.  Once the designer contacted Aurora's parents and then met with them, they gave their blessing and Aurora began her first modeling job.

As they years passed, Aurora became more and more of a celebrity in Vale, branching out from just modeling to acting and television appearences.  She always took care of her parents, moving them into a much nicer home (despite their insistance that it was her money and she shouldn't spend it on them).  Aurora also hired a tutor who helped with her education whenever she wasn't working.

Fate once again interveined and changed the path that Aurora's life was destined to take.  Days before her fifteenth birthday, Aurora, accompanied by her aunt who was in town for a few days to visit her family, was doing a photo shoot in Forever Fall for a new clothing line.  The shoot was nearly finished when the crew were set upon by a pack of Beowolves.  Several of them were hurt before Aurora's aunt killed them.  It was at that point that Aurora began to wonder if she should be doing something more meningful with her life.

After meeting with her parents and aunt, Aurora told them she wished to retire from all aspects of her public life aside from modelling and become a Huntress.  Though they were initially sceptical, she managed to convince them that she was committed to this goal and that she understood this would mean if she were to attend Signal Academy, she would have to work extremely hard to catch up to the other students who were two years ahead in their training and balance the demands of her education against the demands of her work.

Aurora kept working, wanting to be able to continue to support her parents as well as pay for her education, and began attending Signal Academy.  Between extra tutoring and training with her aunt in the little spare time she had, Aurora eventually caught up and graduated with good grades.  She soon after gained acceptance into Beacon Academy where she is looking forward to continuing with her Huntress training.

Aurora and her team were at Beacon when the attack began, and helped defend the school until the evacuation started.

Combat

Aurora is able to fight at both close and medium range thanks to the dual modes of her weapon.  While her strength, speed and agaility are all at an average level, she does have high level reflexes and senses which assist her in battle.  Aurora is at her best in battle when fighting with a partner, allowing her skills and abilities to compliment theirs and vice versa.

Her weapon is called Velvitrum. Velvitrum is a collapsable Dust staff katana (CDSK).There are several components to this weapon:

- A button at the top of the staff that, when pressed, changes its form from staff to katana.

- A chamber at the bottom of the staff where different types of Dust can be inserted

- A crystal at the stop of the staff used to channel the Dust. The crystal changes color from it's default clear color to match the color of the Dust being used.

When in staff form, Velvitrum functions as a regular staff and allows Aurora to cast a wide range of Dust attacks (Fireballs for Fire Dust, blizzards and hail for Ice Dust etc.). When in Katana form, Aurora can insert Dust much like someone putting gunpowder into an old style rifle into the hilt of the katana and infuse it with various elements.

Aura

Aurora’s Aura is a pale yellow colour.

The name Aurora is of Latin origin and means dawn. Dawn maes you think of the color yellow.  Aurora is also the name of the princess in the fairytale Sleeping Beauty.

Aurora was inspired by both Misa Amane and Kiyomi Takada from Death Note.

Aurora is the name of the goddess of dawn in Roman mythology.
