CATSAI:[]

CATSAI is an acronym of Combat Analytics,Tactical Supervision, Artificial Intelligence. CATSAI is standard issue for all Eliminators of the Flagg Institute. In general, it behaves as a personal assistant, informing its user of scheduled tasks and appointments. But it truly shines as tactical adviser. Its integrated motion detector can detect and alert the user of incoming threats and its complex planning algorithms can scan and identify potential weaknesses and countermeasures against an enemy. The CATSAI unit itself varies, but it is often installed on a high performance scroll for general use. In combat use, the scroll is placed in an armored compartment somewhere on a Eliminator’s Tactical suit and plugged into a 13 megapixel camera where it can provide high-definition 1080p video of the battlefield.

Due to the AI's self-adapting nature in its most recent build, if one CATSAI system detects an altered instance with beneficial changes, it will self-update to copy the instance. The cyberwarfare department however, still releases periodic updates for the AI, taking data from submitted instances of an adapted AI. Likewise, this self-adaptation is also a critical component in CATSAI being able to resist being hacked itself. Generally, CATSAI will run any intercepted code through a series of checks. If the commands could cause harm to the system, they will be ignored. More specific attacks can also be compensated for by immediately creating sandbox environments and using the same tactics that malware uses to "counter-hack" (I.E. Self-mutation). If all else fails, CATSAI's hard wired emergency protocols will force the software to shut down and restore to a previous point in time.

Instructor Use[]

Instructors usage of a student's CATSAI is only relevant to the recorded footage of the unit. For Privacy reasons, recording must be manually enabled and submitted by students.

  • Reviewing footage to correct student mistakes
  • Evidence of completed objectives
  • Personal Assistant
  • Automated Grading and Mass Messaging

Student/Operator Use[]

Student and Operator usage of CATSAI is much heavier, with some students designing weapon systems and fighting styles around the software. This is mainly because CATSAI was designed for combat use originally. In recent years, Flagg has started offering CATSAI programming classes to teach students how to customize their CATSAI unit's source code to better suit their needs.

  • Video Evidence to claim bounties or peer contest
  • User Health monitor
  • Built-in motion detector
  • Built-in Scanner and Bestiary
    • Tactical Algorithms to identify target weaknesses and develop specific countermeasures
    • New entries added to cloud "wikia" style beastiary
  • Built-in Cyberwarfare suite
    • Rootkits
    • Hacking
    • Electronic Defense: point system restores, sandboxes, self-mutating source code via tactical algorithms
    • Electronic Offense: rapid uploads, signal jamming, signal hijacking
  • Communications and Surveillance
  • Operation of certain weapons and equipment (Drones, Turrets, etc.)

CATSAIOS[]

Short for Combat Analytics,Tactical Supervision, Artificial Intelligence, Operating System. CATSAIOS is just that: an operating system for Scrolls that borrows heavily from CATSAI's source code. By doing so, it lowers the memory demand and battery drain, allowing the scroll to be used in the field for almost three times longer. CATSAIOS maintains all of the original features of the normal CATSAI at an enhanced level, but has a very bare bones, almost skeletal, social suite so it is not suited to completely replace the original.

CATSAIOS is also used to run many of the drones and robots created and sold by the Flagg Institute.

Trivia[]

  • CATSAI's voice would be provided by Tricia Janine Helfer, the same Voice Actress who provided the voice for EDI in the Mass Effect Series, although the voice module is said to be customizable.
