This page is to, over time, become a compendium of Skills that can be used in the Evolutions AU RP. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list; as stated in the original blog post, "a character may purchase Ranks in any skills that the player may imagine to be practical. For instance, if you believe that Cleanliness is a useful skill, you may purchase Ranks in it."

A "Learned" Skill may be ranked up without a Trainer, as long as the proper requirements are met (such as in-mission usage of the skill or unlocking the proper area to train).

A "Trained" Skill must be taught by a Trainer, who may first need to be located, and have their proper training area unlocked. If a Trained Synergy Rank can only be gained if the proper Trainer and Area have been unlocked.

Trainers and Training Areas that have not been unlocked will be represented by (???).


Balance[]

Balance is used when your OC attempts to move across a narrow surface (such as a ledge or tightrope) or across an unstable surface (such as a wind-tossed rope bridge or a rocking log).

Bluff[]

Bluff can make what's false appear true, what's outrageous seem plausible, and what's suspicious seem ordinary. An OC can use Bluff to fast-talk a police officer, con a shopkeeper, gamble, pass off a disguise or fake documents, and otherwise tell lies.

Bluff checks made against NPCs and other Player OCs are opposed by their Insight. You might be opposed by multiple checks, depending on how many observers can see and hear you, and care about what's going on.

Diplomacy[]

Use this skill to influence others with tact, subtlety, and social grace. Diplomacy is used to change opinions, inspire good will, in haggling, in demonstrating proper etiquette and decorum and in making deals in good faith.

A Diplomacy check is used against a specific number set by the GM if talking to an NPC, and opposes the skill chosen by an opposite-thinking OC (Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, or Insight).

Climb[]

Climb up or down a surface.

Endurance[]

Endurance is used to stave off ill effects and to push your OC beyond normal physical limits. Holding breath for long periods of time, forestalling effects of hunger and thirst, and swimming or treading water for extended periods all fall under Endurance. Some environmental hazards may also require Endurance checks, suc as extreme temperatures, violent weather, and diseases/poison.

Escape[]

Escape is used when your OC attempts to break free from restraints, or to wiggle/muscle free after being grabbed by an enemy.

First Aid[]

Your OC can administer First Aid in the field to help someone recover from small wounds or keep a human or Pokémon alive until they can be treated.

Insight[]

Your OC can discern intent and decipher body language during social interactions. Use Insight to comprehend motives, ready between the lines, get a sense of moods and attitudes, and determine how truthful someone is being.

Insight is used to counter the Bluff skill, and can also be used to gain clues, figure out how well you might be doing in a social situation, and to determine if someone is under the influence of an outside force.

Jump[]

Jump checks allow your OC to jump vertically (to reach a dangling rope or high ledge) or horizontally (to leap across a pit, a low wall, or other obstacle).

Knowledge (Spelunking)[]

Your OC has picked up knowledge related to caverns and other underground natural structures, including the ability to find your way through winding caverns, recognize potential hazards such as cave-ins, and foraging for edible food under the earth's surface. This also allows the OC to identify Rock and Ground-type Pokémon without a Pokédex.

Knowledge (Supernatural)[]
