Leviathan are a family of amphibious Grimm. There are different sizes, ranging from the Krill Leviathan (A misleading name, as they average 3 feet in length) to the King Leviathan, a massive beast believed to be an oddity and not its own group.

Appearance

Regardless of size, Leviathan share a common appearance of something resembling crocodiles.  They have bioluminescent red eyes, as many of them live in the deep seas.  Their faces are, like most Grimm, covered with a white masklike structure.  They have a long snout, razor-sharp teeth, and a row of white spikes down their backs.

Habitat

Despite being amphibious in nature and able to survive on land, Leviathans live in the seas of Remnant and prefer to stay underwater, as there they have an advantage over those who would attempt to kill them.

Behaviour

Leviathans are among the least hostile of Grimm. They have specific territories in the waters of Remnant that trade and ship routes have long since learned to simply avoid.

Depending on their size, they are more likely to work in groups. For example, Krill Leviathans are the most likely to travel in groups, usually anywhere from three to fifteen of them in one pack.  As the size increases, both the pack size and likelyhood of having a pack decreases.

Combat

As they are an aquatic species of Grimm, they are difficult to kill from the surface.  Bullet-style projectiles become next to useless when firing at underwater targets, and humans are far slower in water than they would be on land.  The most common tactic to hunt them down is to draw them to the surface or land, where they can be far more easily dispatched by the Hunter.

Ranking A

King Leviathan

Classification Crocodile
Ranking SS+ (Has never been fought)
Weakness Appears oblivious to small objects

Believed to be more of a species mutation of some sort than a classification of Leviathan, this grimm has only been sighted twice: once on a fishing trip into dangerous waters to catch aquatic Grimm, and once by the Beacon Academy expidition force sent to confirm the claim of its existence.  It was well over 600 feet in length, but thankfully did not take notice of either vessel above it. It appears to live away from the coast, as its sheer size would make it difficult for it to maneuver in shallow water.
