"That's why I aim to be the best I can be; because if I'm not, then I'm just another girl with delusions."

-Violet Magenta

Violet "Nicky" Magenta is the "jack-of-all-trades" of the huntsmen Team RADN of Beacon Academy, where her representative color is purple. Her weapon of choice is a switchable rifle-sword.

She is one of the main protagonists of HellFire707's fan-made RWBY series, "RADN: United We Stand".

Her huntress outfit is much like a gladiator's, complete with a purple chestplate with an eagle engraved on the upper torso piece, chainmail sleeves, black gauntlets, and a cingulum belt. Her lavender leggings have a flame engraving on them. Her cleated sandals have knobby spikes on the straps.

Casual Outfit[]

Violet's casual outfit includes a purple zip-up hoodie with a white undershirt, as well as a knee-length black and white skirt with black shoes.

Personality[]

Despite her warrior heritage, Violet is a very humble and friendly person, and is surprisingly clumsy. She starts out as rather shy around other people, but eventually starts to warm up to those who see her frequently. Despite her meek nature, she is willing to put everything on the line for her friends and family. She tries her best to be accepted among other people, and supports her team, but she doesn't like too much attention.

She is very good at telling people's emotions, and has an advanced stage of empathy for others. Despite her rather shy nature, she will still jump at the chance to spar with others. She says it is most likely because of her bloodline. She has a surprising amount of willpower, and will continue to fight even when her aura is completely chipped away given a motivation.

She strongly dislikes junk food, and encourages her team to eat more healthy food.

Like Darian Rouge, she has a strong sense of right and wrong, and dislikes the idea of killing unless it is absolutely necessary. She also is very independent, tired of having her family making the decisions for her.

Background[]

Before Beacon[]

Violet was born into a family of battle-loving warriors, and high expectations were set upon her by her grandmother Plum Magenta and older brother Blitz. Her parents had to go on a mission shortly after she was born, but they never came back. So, her grandmother Plum took up Violet and Blitz, raising them next to her image.

Despite her bloodline, Violet was often scared of her welfare and generally unsure of herself. She was often outclassed by those who weren't even trained warriors, and her family became disappointed. The combination of overwhelming expectations and the inability to fulfill them drove her into a deep state of sadness, and so she ran away.

However, on the streets by her defenseless self, she was unfortunately cornered and raped by a street thug. She was found in an alleyway by her own family, who was searching for her. This was the turning point; the humiliation and shame of a descendant warrior weakened, broken and taken advantage of, powerlessness and personal hopelessness, the guilt of failure of living up to her family's name, and the horrid trauma of a girl sexually assaulted. Afterward, she made a promise to herself; to get stronger by any means necessary, to no longer be the victim, for herself and her family.

Her promise to herself helped make a dramatic increase in her fighting ability due to the motivation, but with this came a terrible price. The aftermath of her dreadful event left her in indescribable inner turmoil, making her untrustful of others and even having aggressive episodes of trauma. She was even more anti-social than before, and hardly had any moments of actual joy, overpowered by depression.

Her grandmother decided it was high time to get her to a combat school, and saw Signal Academy as an excellent opportunity.

When Violet first enrolled in Signal, she was still very anti-social, and barely spoke at all. Her PTSD even caused her to attack someone who was attempting to be friendly with her, and the incident almost got her expelled, if not for the interception of her family. Around this time, she realized overcoming her fear was another part of growing stronger, and through years of psychiatric training, she had broken through her mental barrier of horrors and almost became a completely different person, emerging as a champion.

This also proved beneficial for her combat performances, as she was now more controlled and more collected. Before she graduated Signal, she made a weapon for herself, a sword that also doubled as a rifle, which she named "Dark Matter".

Pre-Fall of Beacon[]

After graduating Signal Academy, she had moved on to Beacon Academy, where she was paired with Richard Oráiste on the testing mission in Emerald Forest. Afterward, she later met and befriended Darian Rouge and Amber Grün. The four of them figured Ozpin would assemble them as an official Team, since they all got along so well. She felt low of herself, however, because whereas everyone else already had a semblance, Violet did not. She had mastered her combat prowess, and unlocked her aura, but did not know how to manifest her semblance at the time.

Post-Fall of Beacon[]

During the Fall of Beacon, Violet was attacked by multiple gangs of the White Fang. She was so overwhelmed by everything going on around her, and wanted to help so badly, that is was then her semblance was unleashed for the first time. She eventually reunited with the rest of her friends, and they decided to become Team RDAN, dedicated to defending whatever is left of Vale and eradicating the Grimm threat.

Semblance and Physical Abilities[]

Although Violet lacked a semblance at first, she finally found it during the Fall of Beacon. She calls this semblance "Pathway", given from her new ability to create portals. This allows her to go through space to travel to another spot nearby, and she can summon two different portals simultaneously. However, creating any more is incredibly difficult, given her experience with the semblance, along with the fact that the maximum range these portals can extend to is around only a dozen meters. Another potential weakness is the fact that absolutely anything can go through these portals and backfire on her until she closes the portals, even enemy attacks. Her portals can only remain open for fifteen to thirty seconds, and have a cooldown of a minute. She also has to concentrate while summoning a portal while looking at exactly where she wants to go.

Violet is at the peak of female human physical conditioning, and her fighting skill and experience let her keep up with much stronger opponents, such as her teammate Amber, and she has resilient durability. Her body produces less fatigue toxins in physical activity, so she can keep up her pace and even increase movement intensity for a long time before succumbing to exhaustion. She can deliver rapid attacks with her weapon and can switch modes with her weapon mid-attack with little flaws, and can even use its bladed form to deflect bullets. She is also an excellent swimmer.

Highly skilled in swordsmanship, Violet is widely recognized to be a fierce opponent, especially combined with her semblance to strike from multiple angles. She can strike very quickly and very powerfully at the same time. She mainly uses a specially-made swordsman martial art her family made, called the Nine Strike. The Nine Strike mostly recognizes use of nine different weak parts in a body and a specific way to attack each of them, but also teaches the body to naturally react defensively but at the same time masterfully against threats without thought.

Weapons and Team[]

Dark Matter[]

Sword Form- Violet's weapon of choice is "Dark Matter", which can come with the appearance of a purple-bladed European broadsword, with a darker hilt and finger-guards. Its blade is trimmed with a black color around its edges, which are wide and double-edged. The sword itself is 3'05" long in total.

Rifle Form- Dark Matter also has a rifle mode, which can be activated when the hilt is pushed forward over the blade, locking together in place to reveal a barrel, and with the press of a button, the stock will be pushed out. A magazine with ammunition then can be loaded into the newly-transformed weapon and the rifle is complete. It is bolt-action in function, and appears remarkably similar to an Iron Sights Ballista. The magazine can hold as much as 7 bullets.

Team[]

She is a part of Team RADN (Pronounced "Radiant"; composed of other members Richard Oráiste, Darian Rouge, and Amber Grün.). Her role in the team is the "jack-of-all-trades", assault and combat expert, considering she is excellent in nearly all forms of combat.

Aura[]

Violet's aura color is blue, and can be used to quickly heal minor wounds, to even form defensive barriers against attacks. She has demonstrated the ability to unlock another person's aura as well, and even release short-bursted shockwaves. (Author's Note: Quite like Lie Ren did against the King Tijitu.)

Special Skills[]

Combat Arsenal: Violet is skilled in multiple fields of battle, close-ranged and distanced included. Her skill has allowed her to keep up with the likes of much stronger opponents, and can strike from multiple angles thanks to her semblance.

Swimming: She is an excellent swimmer, and can move freely through deep bodies of water.

Instinct: Thanks to the Nine Strike martial art, she can automatically react to any threat without the need to acknowledge it. Her body can continuously adapt even while in battle.

Empathy: She can easily tell the emotions of people around her, and can relate.

Weaknesses[]

Violet has little experience over her semblance, and cannot open more than two portals at a time. They can only remain open for a limited time, and her opponents can reach through her own portals and attack her through them.

She always fights fair, and expects her opponents to do the same, even crueler people, which leaves her guard down against dirty attacks. She is also too forgiving.

Mathematics are not her strong academic point.

Relationships[]

Plum Magenta[]

Violet's grandmother and teacher. She was raised by Plum a majority of her life since her parents have gone missing, and was trained in combat under her guidance. As much as Violet loves and trusts her grandmother, she wishes that Plum would give her a chance to have a say in any decision involving them.

Blitz Van Magenta[]

Violet's brother. Violet often compares herself to Blitz, claiming that she could never be as powerful as he is, which stems from Blitz being the center of attention in the family. Blitz is often annoyed every time he has to jump in to protect Violet, believing as a member of a warrior family, Violet should have no problem fending for herself. Blitz is sometimes a bit harsh towards her. Nevertheless, the two care for each other very much, and often stay close together.

Richard Oráiste[]

The team leader. Violet shows an interest in Richard, that Darian often teases as "infatuation", though Violet denies this. Richard and Violet get along very well, and often have casual conversations. Whenever Violet feels low about herself, Richard always disagrees, knowing Violet is capable of much more than she realizes. As a subordinate, Violet has a large level of respect towards Richard.

Darian Rouge[]

Violet's teammate. The two have been known to skip class together to patrol Vale's streets, due to their matching desire to fight crime and do some good. Violet often hangs out with Darian to learn how to be more social, and the two understand each other very well because they both had relatable less fortunate pasts. Violet's nickname "Nicky" was given to her by Darian.

Amber Grün[]

Violet's teammate. She and Amber have a quiet and non-spoken relationship, but they enjoy sparring each other, and often look after one another when weightlifting. The two generally admire and respect each other, Amber admiring Violet's skill, and Violet admiring Amber's power. It is hinted that the two take walks through parks together.

Other Notes[]

  • Her first name "Violet" refers to a brighter shade of purple. The two of them are widely regarded to be the same color. Her last name, "Magenta", is defined as a color with mixed properties of red and purple.
  • Violet's creation and semblance was inspired by Alice and the Rabbit Hole from Alice in Wonderland. Her warrior-build was inspired by Morrigan, the Celtic Goddess of war, doom, and fate.
  • Violet's past is largely inspired by those affected by sexual assault and have risen to overcome it. (Author's Note: If you ever find or have found yourself or those you care about in a situation similar, call the National Sexual Assault Hotline, at 1-800-656-4673. Stay strong, you are not alone.)
  • The Nine Strike is roughly based on Ultra Instinct from Dragon Ball Super.
  • Violet surprisingly is a person who likes to lift weights at the gym. She also has experience in acting, reciting scenes from her favorite novels and movies, however, she gets too shy to show it often.
  • She likes small animals, particularly rabbits.
